Afton Bloom was founded in 2020 by Neeraja Bhavaraju and Alexandra Geertz with a simple conviction: that progress on gender and racial equity can't wait. As a woman-owned firm, supporting women with big dreams is central to who we are. That starts with our name.

Afton Bloom is named for the founders' maternal grandmothers. Afton is the street where Alexandra's grandmother lived. Bloom is short for Bloomingdale's — the store that Neeraja's grandmother read about in her Danielle Steel novels and dreamed of visiting all the way from India. (She eventually did.)
