Meet our founding team.
We believe in supporting women with dreams – that's why Afton Bloom is named for our grandmothers. Afton is the street that Alexandra's grandmother lived on, and Bloom is short for Bloomingdales, the store that Neeraja's grandmother read about in novels and dreamed of visiting (she eventually did!). They inspired us to be tenacious, bold, and forward-thinking – qualities that we choose to embody in our business practices each and every day.
Alexandra and Neeraja lead a team of diverse, experienced consultants who share these qualities and aspirations.
Neeraja brings over a decade of experience as a strategy consultant. At Afton Bloom, she has partnered closely with clients to facilitate strategic planning processes, co-create and manage collaboratives, develop impact measurement frameworks, and plan for new product introduction. Her work has focused on advancing women's sexual and reproductive health and rights, women's political participation, and health equity. Prior to founding Afton Bloom, she spent nine years at FSG where she co-led the firm's Global Health practice and was a senior leader in the firm's Corporate practice. Neeraja has worked extensively in Africa, South Asia, and Latin America, and travels off-hours as well – she can't resist a good crafts market! She holds an MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College, an MALD in Economic Development and Human Security from the Fletcher School at Tufts University, and a BA from Tufts University.
Alexandra has over a decade of consulting experience working with philanthropic and corporate clients to develop strategies and assess impact. At Afton Bloom, Alexandra has provided coaching to leading philanthropists, designed innovative funding mechanisms, and guided strategic planning processes for foundations and non-profits. Her work has specialized in mental health, reproductive health, and advancing women in the workplace. Prior to founding Afton Bloom, she served as a Director at FSG where she led their Global Health practice and founded the Gender Equity practice area. She has an MBA from MIT's Sloan School of Management, a Graduate Certificate from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies and a BA in Asian Studies and Mathematics from Hamilton College. She speaks Mandarin Chinese and in her freetime enjoys weekly backgammon, photography, and tennis.
